Michelle Tupy
Michelle Tupy is a nonprofit and community-services leader based in New Brunswick with extensive experience in gender-based violence support, volunteer engagement and nonprofit governance. She currently serves as Regional Director for Shelter Movers in the Maritimes, overseeing operations across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Shelter Movers provides free moving and storage services for individuals and families fleeing abuse. Under Michelle’s leadership, the organization expanded beyond its original regional scope and has now completed more than 1,800 survivor-supported moves.
Through media outreach and community advocacy, Michelle has spoken publicly about the barriers survivors face when leaving abusive relationships and the importance of coordinated volunteer networks and community support systems in improving safety and access to services.
Prior to her current role, Michelle worked with Hospice Southeast New Brunswick in both community services and business development positions. She helped develop grief support and public education initiatives as well as manage the organization’s social enterprise and volunteer engagement initiatives.
Michelle currently serves as Chair of Urban/Rural Rides, a nonprofit dedicated to accessible transportation services, and is an active board member with Moncton Cares, a nonprofit that supports refugees, immigrants, newcomers and other vulnerable community members as they settle and integrate into life in New Brunswick. Her board leadership emphasizes collaboration between businesses, volunteers, and nonprofits to strengthen accessibility, community wellbeing, and social impact across Atlantic Canada.
