You talked, we listened and are making changes

As our club continues to evolve and mature, the Board has been active in listening to your comments and suggestions and is working hard to respond to the ideas you have provided. With that in mind, I wanted to share with you just a few activities that are happening because of your input:

Opportunities for Social time:

We have received several comments from you that you would like an opportunity to get to know others in the club.  SO, Erin Maloney has organized the FIRST “Cocktail/Mocktail Hour”.  We are offering two time slots to accommodate the various time zones.  Mark your calendars for:

OPTION 1:    Tuesday, 15 March at 6:00 PM US Central Time

OPTION 2:     Wednesday, 16 March at, 7:30 AM US Central Time

Registration is required so look for the invite soon

More opportunities to get engaged:

The key to feeling engaged in Rotary is to join a committee.  We have a growing list of committees for you to become involved.  I am providing the list of committees and their chairs.  PLEASE feel free to connect with the chairs directly if you see a committee that interests you:

Speaker Committee:  This committee seeks out, vets, and schedules the programs for our regular meetings.  This committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (next meeting is March 16) @7 AM US Central time.    The Chair is Kana Leia Veney.

Membership Committee:  This committee is being totally revamped under the leadership of Michael Podlony.  Meetings are scheduled as needed.

Programs & Projects Committee:  This committee research organizations and programs that our club would like to endorse or even partner with in implementing their programs.  This committee meets the 3rd Thursday of each month (next meeting is March 17) @ 7 AM US Central time.  The Committee Chair is Erin Maloney.

Fundraising Committee:  This is a brand-new committee.  I am excited that Ashley Aiken has offered to lead this new committee.  Please let her know if you are interested in joining this committee.

Communications Committee:  This is also a new committee.  This committee is responsible for publishing our newsletter, managing the internal club website, and the external website.   Dalton Brannen is the chair of this committee

More Transparency from the Board:

We try to balance the boring announcements at the beginning of each meeting with providing transparency from the board, so we are trying a few things:

  • The board meets the first Thursday of each month.  We post the minutes of the board meeting on Club Runner for your information
  • Karen and Michelle will be offering “office hours” to give you the opportunity to visit with us, better understand the vision/mission of the club, ask general questions and brainstorm ways for you to get more involved in the club and in the efforts to end human trafficking.
    • Michelle’s hours will be the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30-9:30 a.m. CT.
    • Karen’s hours will be the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00-8:30 p.m. CT.

For Security reasons, we ask that you send Michelle and Karen a request for an appointment

PLEASE continue to provide your feedback and comments.  This is YOUR club, and we want to meet YOUR needs!

Karen
