Set a goal to make a difference
It is that time of the year again. The time where we look back at what we have accomplished and look forward to what we plan to accomplish this year. This year I will be adding more personal goals around ending human trafficking and I challenge you to do the same. My short term goals will include sharing educational resources and support opportunities with others. The ones I like to share:
How to recognize the signs of those being trafficked and what questions to ask.
How to find out more about your food and clothing supply chains using the Responsible Sourcing Tool as well as the List of Goods Produced by Child or Forced Labor.
Support businesses who either employ or support those who have been trafficked or provide jobs to those who are at risk. Some good lists of such companies: 10 Best Ethical Businesses Supporting Sex Trafficking Survivors, 5 Social Good Businesses Who Make Ending Human Trafficking Their Mission, and Survivor made products
Share information about the Mekong Club with business leaders so they can develop effective management systems to detect, prevent, and combat human trafficking.
Share information about PACT, Love 146 and 3Strands Global Foundation with those in the education field to bring to their schools and communities.
My long term goals will be a continued search of what we can do for effective prevention that will keep people from becoming victims in the first place. We have heard a number of good ideas and welcome more. I encourage you to help the club research and lead these efforts to end human trafficking. Without everyone stepping up to help in some way our efforts will remain as ideas. Lets move into Action in 2023.
Moving intention into Action,
Michelle Seets
